My name is Summer Compton, and I am a North Carolina–based photographer with a passion for creating images with purpose. I work across a variety of photographic styles and am currently studying Advertising at Appalachian State University. Photography has always been a major part of my life, and after working professionally for several years, I plan to continue growing it into a lifelong career.

I was born and raised in Southern Pines, NC. I have a separate passion for photographing the horse community since I grew up in it.

Sneaking in pictures of my friends when in their element is an old hobby of mine, so portraiture is like second nature to me.

I’m always drawn to concerts and cars. There’s nothing like hearing that one song live—it fuels my soul and my love for music, just as cars fuel my creativity.

What I know Summer best for and have worked most closely with her on is her art practice in photographing live music performances. Summer has been adamant about pursuing this passion and used both local connections and strived to reach out to larger North Carolina venues to continue and grow her blossoming career. She has dedicated countless hours, energy, and passion toward encapsulating the exhilarating momentum and intimate moments of live music performances in a single image.
